Cronos EVM “Pallene” Upgrade Scheduled for 12th December 2024
Enhancing Performance with Parallel Transactions and Cosmos SDK Updates
The much-anticipated Cronos EVM Pallene Upgrade is set to revolutionize the Cronos Mainnet with advanced features, including parallel transaction processing and updates leveraging the latest Cosmos SDK and CometBFT.
Key Upgrade Details
The Pallene Upgrade will occur at block height 17,155,000, projected to take place on:
Date: Thursday, 12th December 2024
Time: Around 6:00 AM GMT (2:00 PM HKT/SGT) (subject to block production progress).
Estimated downtime during the upgrade is approximately 60 minutes, during which all Cronos services, such as the mainnet, public RPCs, Explorer, and Cronos Bridge, will be paused and resumed post-upgrade.
What This Means for Users
The network pause will ensure a seamless upgrade process while maintaining all existing data.
Post-upgrade, the mainnet will resume with enhanced functionalities, allowing users to benefit from the improvements introduced by Pallene.
Instructions for Node Operators
Node operators must take action to ensure their systems are ready:
Upgrade Requirement: Install the latest cronosd binary v1.4.0 after reaching block height 17,155,000.
Important Note: Do not upgrade before the specified block height, as the new binary will be incompatible with the current chain.
Detailed instructions and guidance for upgrading nodes are available on the Cronos Discord server in the #cronos-mainnet channel.
Key Features of the Pallene Upgrade
The upgrade introduces:
Parallel Transaction Processing: Improving throughput and reducing congestion during peak activity.
Cosmos SDK and CometBFT Enhancements: Leveraging cutting-edge developments for improved security and scalability.
These updates reinforce Cronos' commitment to providing robust infrastructure and seamless user experiences for developers and projects within its ecosystem.
